West Michigan collaboration has once again led to economic revitalization.

The Right Place Inc., a regional economic development nonprofit, and Michigan Economic Development Corp. have announced a collaborative effort to approve $475,000 in Michigan Business Development Program initiatives from the Michigan Strategic Fund.

The initiative will prompt Undercar Products Group Inc., an automotive systems and components manufacturer, to move ahead with a $26-million expansion at its plant at 4247 Eastern Ave., in Wyoming.

With construction slated for 2013, this move could possibly generate an expected 150 jobs over the next three years.

“Undercar Products Group’s new investment is great news for the Grand Rapids area and the West Michigan region,” said Susan Jackson, senior business development manager at The Right Place. “This announcement demonstrates that the automotive manufacturing industry is strong and growing in West Michigan. We are pleased to see 150 new jobs coming to our area.”
