Dunkin’ Donuts corporate headquarters in Canton, Mass., has announced the signing of a development agreement with its existing franchise group, Sack of Donuts LLC, for 10 restaurants in Grand Rapids. The first is planned to open in 2013 and the remainder by 2018.

In July, Sack of Donuts, led by brothers Mike and Andy Knapick, signed its first multi unit development agreement with Dunkin’ Donuts for eight new shops between Kalamazoo and South Bend. The first opened in Kalamazoo earlier this fall, with two South Bend stores planned to open in late November and early 2013.

“We are excited to expand Dunkin’ Donuts’ presence in Grand Rapids and play an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work and visit here,” said Mike Knapick, who is from the Kalamazoo area. “We have a passion and loyalty for the brand.”

Dunkin’ Donuts said other franchise opportunities are available in Michigan, including in Oceana, Newaygo and Montcalm counties.

Dunkin' Donuts was founded in 1950 and has more than 10,000 restaurants in 32 countries worldwide. It is a publicly held company, and its global franchisees reported total sales of approximately $6.4 billion in 2011.
