Cultural Marketing Group receives award

Grand Rapids Cultural Marketing Group, consisting of members from area arts and cultural organizations, has received the Arts Destination Marketing Award 2012 from the Destination Marketing Association International and Americans for the Arts for its role in the Culture Pass GR program. The group worked with Experience Grand Rapids to create a discount card that provides access to savings and special offers from more than 20 West Michigan arts and cultural organizations.

ACCOUNTING

CSM Group announced Doug Vrba has been promoted to project manager, and Nathan Boyer has joined the firm as an accounting intern.

ADVERTISING & MARKETING

Advantage Marketing Inc. of Novi announced it has named Mark McAvoy territory manager for western and northern Michigan. McAvoy will be responsible for new account development in the cleaning and restoration industry.

AGRISCIENCE

David Vander Zanden is the recipient of a National Silver Award for milk quality from the National Mastitis Council. The award signifies Vander Zanden’s farm is one of the top 51 in the state.

ARTS

Patricia Clarke served as a national judge for the 45thannual Kent County Dyer-Ives Poetry competition. Clarke is poet-in-resident and a professor in the writing department at Grand Valley State University.

BANKING

Founders Bank & Trust announced the additions of Seth Leyendecker, employee benefits relationship manager, and Deb Sciba, marketing coordinator.

GreenStone Farm Credit Services announced the promotion of Ian McGonigal to regional vice president of sales and customer relations. McGonigal will oversee five branches in West Michigan.

BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION

Elzinga & Volkers Firestop Solutions has been recognized by worldwide construction supplier Hilti as an expert in the construction specialty area of firestopping.

Erhardt Construction announced that Sophia’s House, Saint Mary Health Care’s guest house for patients and their families, has received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Nugent Builders announced the promotions of Matt McCambridge to president and Rick Nugent to CEO.

Grandville Jenison Chamber of Commerce announced Grandville Mayor James Buck is the first recipient of the Grandville Jenison Lifetime Achievement Award for fostering business development and promoting business expansion through community connections. 

Wyoming Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Bob O’Callaghan as president/CEO.

Paul Boynton has joined Automatic Data Processing as major account district manager.

EDUCATION

Grand Valley State University professor of mathematics Matthew Boelkins has been selected to receive the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award from the Michigan Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The award will be presented in May.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Blackford Capital LLC announced the appointment of Jeffrey P. Helminski to managing director. He is responsible for the firm’s Michigan prosperity fund and serves on the board of directors of Custom Profile, the fund’s latest acquisition.

Northwestern Mutual Western Michigan Group managing partner Mitchell B. Glover has earned his Chartered Advisor for Senior Living designation. Craig Thelen was appointedfinancial representative in the Grand Rapids office.
