Advertising industry submits best work ADDY awards

It's time for the advertising community to stand up and be recognized.

Once again, the American Advertising Federation West Michigan will host the local ADDY Awards. This year's ceremony will be held at the Grand Rapids Art Museum on Thursday, Feb. 21.

There are 75 categories, including the newly added copywriting category. Last year, the local chapter received 500 submissions, and, this year, the organization is expecting a similar number of entries. It is one of the largest local competitions in the country.

As in the past, six judges from outside of the district will judge the submissions. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, and those winning entries will then be submitted to the second tier, where they will be judged against the other winners from the district. District winners then compete at the national ADDY awards competition.

Entries must have been created within the West Michigan market between Jan. 1, 2012 and Dec. 31, 2012, to be eligible.

To be considered, all creative work must be submitted on Thursday, Jan. 10, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Physical entries can be dropped off during that time on the fourth floor of Kendall College of Art and Design, 17 Fountain St. NW. This year, all digital work must be submitted electronically through the chapter’s website in order to be considered.
