ClipCleany helps dog owners be prepared to pick up after their pets any time they’re outside.

Start Garden has invested in two more startup ideas.

ClipCleany, an idea for a specialized bean-shaped compartment that pet owners can attach to a dog’s leash, was selected by the Start Garden team for $5,000 in initial funding.

Dog owners use the highly visible, glowing bean to store items such as recycled bags, treats and money during walks. ClipCleany is designed with a hold to carry back dog-waste bags.

“After talking to nine different local companies for sourcing, I have found a great distributor in Grand Rapids who is able to offer me (a) really great piece price, terms and distribute it throughout the country,” writes idea creator Erika Berry on her Start Garden page. “I have had retailers interested in putting it on their shelves.”

Students Get Fit, an idea for a virtual level progression system to encourage and reward students who work out, was selected by public vote for $5,000 in initial funding.

The platform would allow students to track workouts, earn prizes and interact with sponsors, allowing businesses to be involved with the development of healthy lifestyles.

“Phase I is focused on the 19.1 million college students at over 4,000 colleges in the U.S.A. Our combination of on campus and online advertising makes us stand out from the crowd,” writes idea creator Chris Smith on his Start Garden page. “Phase II will open Students Get Fit to anyone over 18 exercising at a majority of the fitness centers in the country.”
