Bay Pointe Inn renovates historic Badger's Boathouse on Gun Lake
Following its purchase of the historic Badger’s Boathouse, Bay Pointe Inn will hold an auction of more than 400 items previously housed in the location, including more than 200 advertising pieces, antiques, appliances, furniture, and household, commercial and architectural items.
The auction is being conducted by Kendall Tobias Auctioneering, and will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.
Bay Pointe Inn plans to renovate Badger’s Boathouse, which is now being called the “BoatHouse,” preserving its historic feel while equipping it to meet the modern needs of travelers, weddings and corporate retreats.
The BoatHouse, which is located in Gun Lake, is expected to open to guests May 1.
“The BoatHouse will allow Bay Pointe Inn to meet the growing needs and demands of our guests while providing a destination retreat for weddings, corporate groups and family reunions,” said Michael Powers, owner. “We will preserve the history of the BoatHouse, while bringing in modern conveniences and design elements from Mary Collins, owner of Custom Design Studios in Grand Rapids.”
The BoatHouse is adjacent to Bay Pointe Inn. Upon completion, the 5,000-square-foot facility will sleep 15 and feature four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms.

The expansion marks the third for Bay Pointe Inn since 2008. The first two, the Lakefront Event Pavilion and Fireside Banquet Center, have allowed the resort to host more than 250 weddings and hundreds of corporate and social events over the last five years.
