Michigan Film Office awards Ryan Gosling's 'How to Catch a Monster' $1.75M tax incentive
LANSING — Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling's directorial debut has been approved for a $1.75 million Michigan tax incentive.
The state's film office says the modern-fantasy drama, "How to Catch a Monster," will film in the Detroit area later this spring.
It features Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes and marks the first time Gosling has written and directed a feature film.
The Michigan Film Office says "How to Catch a Monster" was awarded the incentive on $6.2 million of projected in-state expenditures. The production is expected to hire 104 Michigan workers.
The movie is about a single mother who gets swept into a dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
