Special effects wizards and marketing professionals will be glad to know that the West Michigan Creative Congress (WMCC) is tonight.

Hosted by Dart Frog Creative in conjunction with the Southeast Michigan Animation and Visual FX Network (SEMAFX) and Ferris State University, the event will be today from 6-9 p.m. at Dart Frog Creative’s headquarters in the Custer Building, at 217 Grandville Ave. SW, Grand Rapids.

WMCC is a community and networking event for professionals in creative fields: marketing, graphic design, industrial design, architectural visualization, film, animation, visual effects, interaction design and game design.

Creative trade show

Event organizers invite creative businesses to showcase their work and talents in a "trade show format" to "give guests an idea of the type of production and vast talent West Michigan has to offer in many diverse industries," according to an event invitation.

Appliations of visual effects

Michele Yamazaki, a local visual effects artist, is scheduled to give a presentation on how visual effects software can tie in to many aspects of marketing and visualization.

Dart Frog Creative will also be presenting on its current projects and on how computer-generated imagery (CGI) can impact the industrial and marketing worlds.

The event will be catered by Yesterdog, with drinks by Martha's Vineyard and a trip to Founders Brewing afterward.

Dart Frog Creative was originally created in collaboration with Steelcase’s 3D Rendering Department before becoming a sole division of Custer, a West Michigan workplace furniture and interior dealer, in 2007.

Anyone who would like to attend WMCC can RSVP on Meetup or Facebook.
