Spectrum Health breaks ground on $48M integrated care center
Spectrum Health held a ceremonial indoor “groundbreaking” event last week — because of the heavy rains and lightning — near the site of the future Beltline Integrated Care Center in northeast Grand Rapids.
The new three-story facility and its equipment will represent a $48-million investment by Spectrum Health. It will be located at the southeast corner of East Beltline Avenue and Three Mile Road.
The center will be 120,000 square feet and will provide space for seven existing northeast Grand Rapids office facilities belonging to Spectrum Health, involving about 200 employees.
Spectrum Health expects the center to be completed in the spring of 2014.
“The building is uniquely designed to facilitate true integration of services,” said James M. Tucci, M.D., president of Spectrum Health Medical Group. “Patients will receive coordinated care under one roof, without having to travel from office to office. Our providers will be able to communicate and work together more easily, which will help their patients.”
A similar integrated facility was opened by Spectrum Health last year in Holland, on E. Lakewood Boulevard, and Tucci said the new building will enhance several elements of that design.
Spectrum Health will provide a range of medical services at the new pavilion: family medicine, home medical equipment, internal medicine, labs, neurosciences, pediatrics, physical therapy, psychiatry, psychology, urgent care and women’s health.
