Want to go to Grand Rapids Community College for free this summer?

It could happen by using GRCC’s Fast Track program, a three-week session that helps incoming students become college-ready in the areas of reading, writing and math. It allows students to save time and money by bypassing remedial courses.

Three sessions will be offered this summer, running from June 10-27, July 8-25 and July 29-Aug. 15. The sessions are open to any first-time GRCC student as long as they have not been enrolled in any other college or university and have received the following ACCUPLACER scores: English, 4; Math, 60-76; and Reading, 60-70.

Last summer, GRCC ran its pilot program, seeing 179 of the 233 students recruited complete the program.

“Students who go through the free Fast Track program are ready to jump into college-level work in the fall,” said Domingo Hernandez-Gomez, associate director of GRCC’s College Success Center. “They’ve worked hard and built a great foundation for the next big step in their lives.”
