Grand Rapids chamber invites congressmen to lunch
The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a lunchtime conversation with two West Michigan congressmen on Friday at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
Republican congressmen Justin Amash and Bill Huizenga are expected to tackle topics that are of interest to the region’s businesses.
“Policies, regulations and events in Washington have consequences for West Michigan, directly and indirectly affecting our businesses, communities and regions. This event provides a unique forum for attendees to hear Congressional representatives speak directly to the issues that matter most to them,” said Andy Johnston, vice president of government and corporate affairs at the chamber.
Sequestration, the federal budget, tax reform, health care, immigration and national security are likely topics to be discussed.
“In addition to the overreaching policy questions facing Congress, we know our attendees will also have questions about the practices of the IRS, the handling of Benghazi and inquiries into the Associated Press. Congressmen Amash and Huizenga are looking forward to providing their perspectives and insights on these matters,” said Johnston.
The luncheon runs from 11:30 until 1:30.
Tickets are $35 for chamber members and $45 for the general public.
An additional VIP reception will take place from 11-11:45 a.m., and a ticket to that event costs $100.
