A brand new company now owns four of the region's more notable restaurants.

The RedWater Restaurant Group recently acquired Reds on the River in Rockford and added the popular American-style eatery that opened along the Rogue River in 2006 to its three other holdings: Watermark Grille in Cascade, FireRock Grille in Caledonia and Rush Creek Bistro in Grandville.

Three of RedWater's restaurants are located on golf courses in the area: the Watermark is at the Watermark Country Club; FireRock is situated at StoneWater Country Club and Rush Creek is located on the grounds of the Sunnybrook Country Club.

“I am excited and proud to manage four of the most distinguished restaurants that are recognized as the great Grand Rapids community’s best,” said Craig Smith, COO of the RedWater Restaurant Group.

Smith had been the club manager for Watermark Properties, which owned the Watermark, FireRock and Rush Creek Bistro.

Watermark Properties will continue to market and manage the three golf courses, while the RedWater Restaurant Group will do the same for the four restaurants.

Smith said Chef Glenn Forgie will continue to direct the menu at Reds on the River, at 8 E. Bridge St., in Rockford.

Forgie was selected as the Best Chef of 2011 by Grand Rapids Magazine, a sister publication of the Business Journal.

Reds will continue to serve lunch and dinner.
