Grand Rapids native Mary Tuuk, a longtime Fifth Third Bank executive who became president of the bank’s Western Michigan region in January 2012, has been re-assigned to the bank's corporate headquarters in Cincinnati.

Tuuk will be re-joining the Bancorp Enterprise Team as board secretary and executive vice president of corporate services.

A search for Tuuk’s successor in Grand Rapids is now underway.

The announcement was made this week by Kevin Kabat, president/CEO of Fifth Third Bancorp, who added that Tuuk also will lead the bank’s legal, merger and acquisition integration and government affairs departments. In addition, she will assume responsibility for strategic sourcing and facilities.

Tuuk will replace Paul Reynolds when he retires as corporate secretary at the end of July.

She also is currently serving as chief risk officer until the post is filled by Frank Forrest in September. Forrest, who was just hired by Fifth Third, had been an executive at Bank of America for 25 years.

Prior to coming back to Grand Rapids in 2012 to head the Western Michigan region, Tuuk had been executive vice president and chief risk officer of Fifth Third in Cincinnati.

Tuuk holds a bachelor’s degree in business and music from Calvin College and an MBA and law degree from Indiana University.
