Downtown Holland will host its first ever 4th of July Celebration tomorrow.

More than 40 shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants will be open for business during the day.

Patriotic colors

Several of those businesses are participating in “celebrate and save,” which means that they will give patrons wearing red, white and blue 20 percent off of a single item at their store.

Entertainment will be provided from 6:30-8:30 p.m. by more than 30 street performers from the popular Street Performer Series.

Musicians, jugglers, aerial acrobats, dancers, magicians, caricature artists and more will line 8th Street and perform for free, and there will also be a special appearance by stilt walker Michael Hayataka.

“Between the street performers, the large number of shoppers and diners expected downtown and the American flags lining 8th Street, we are looking forward to a very festive 4th of July Celebration this year, with hopes to expand the event in the years to come,” said Kara de Alvare, interim marketing coordinator for Downtown Holland.

Celebration Freedom

In addition to the 4th of July Celebration in Downtown Holland, JQ99.3 and The Pledge radio stations will be hosting their annual Celebration Freedom event at Kollen Park, just a short walk from downtown.

The celebration kicks off at 2 p.m. with children’s inflatable toys, games, food vendors and more.

Fireworks

The evening will conclude with fireworks at dusk.
