Grand Rapids-based global transportation, logistics and supply chain management company Supply Chain Solutions has acquired the freight forwarding business unit of England Logistics, a freight brokerage firm and third-party logistics provider.

The acquisition gives SCS offices in Los Angeles and Shanghai, Qingdao and Ningbo, China, according to an SCS announcement.

SCS currently operates offices in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Virginia.

“This will give SCS a platform to grow our international business and provide our customers with a complete suite of supply chain services,” said Les Brand, CEO of SCS.

"We look forward to a long and rewarding business partnership with England Logistics and its customers,” he added.

For international customers of Salt Lake City-based England Logistics, SCS said it will provide customs brokerage, international compliance support, supply chain management and technology and customer service.

“We are thrilled with the international partnership with SCS that will result from this deal,” said Jason Beardall, England Logistics president. “They bring additional international strength to our comprehensive service offering at England Logistics.”

SCS will also become a preferred provider for international forwarding and customs brokerage.
