Frey Foundation awards $7.4M in grants
Last year was a good year for the Frey Foundation.
The Grand Rapids-based foundation, one of the largest family run foundations in Michigan, recently announced in its annual report that it distributed $7.4 million in grants in 2012.
“By policy, the Frey Foundation's minimum annual charitable spending is typically 5 percent of the foundation's average assets over the previous 12 months,” according to the report.
The report highlights the stories from recent grantees, including the Grand Rapids University Prep Academy, Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center, Top of Michigan Trails Council, Crooked Tree Arts Center and the Health Department of Northwest Michigan.
Steve Wilson, foundation president, said the organizations highlighted in the report represent the collective work of grantees and funders throughout the region and beyond.
“Frey Foundation trustees and staff have had the great pleasure of working with many innovative programs during the past year,” Wilson said. “We are delighted to share some of their stories with you in the foundation’s first online, interactive annual report.”
