Family blends home-cooked flavors at Downtown Market

A pair of sisters and their mother will bring the artisan flavors of their home kitchen to Downtown Market’s indoor Market Hall later this month.

Miss Maddie’s is a culinary startup and maker of gourmet pasta sauces, butters and deli salads.

Family kitchen

Founded by sisters, Lindsey Shaw and Amanda Sheehan, and their mom, Gail Schoenborn, Miss Maddie’s is the first venture for the three.

The trio, however, has been producing their artisan products in their kitchen for family for several years. They recently decided to make a commercial business from their creations.

Miss Maddie’s will use Downtown Market’s Incubator Kitchen, a 5,000-square-foot commercial kitchen, designed for startups and entrepreneurs.

“Family is critically important to us, and we wanted to create a new business that we could grow for our children,” said Shaw, co-founder of Miss Maddie’s. “Our family has cooked together generation to generation, and we are eager to bring the flavors of our home to the Downtown Market.”

The kitchen will be in the Market Hall, which is designed to bring together artisans of all types to share, teach, collaborate and spread their crafts in the community.

“The Downtown Market is designed to be a supportive location for people just starting out and launching new experiments,” said Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the market. “The mixture of experienced artisans located directly next to entrepreneurs creates a community of support and an ecosystem for creating new products.”
