A national retailer of clothes and home décor products plans to open a 50,000-square-foot store in West Michigan.

The city of Wyoming has confirmed that Gordmans is planning to develop a store near RiverTown Crossings mall.

The Wyoming store would be Gordmans' first in Michigan, according to its website.

The Omaha, Neb.-based chain operates 90 stores nationally, offering “low” prices every day and not relying on sales or promotions.

Gordmans received city approval to begin work on a store in the Wilson Town Shopping Center on Wilson Avenue, said Wyoming City Planner Tim Cochran.

Gordmans would develop a building in the parking lot next to The Home Depot, right along the line between the city of Wyoming and the city of Grandville.

Cochran added he “wouldn’t be a bit surprised” if Gordmans begins construction this fall and opened next summer.

Gordmans had no comment on the store.
