An East Lansing-based law firm with a long history has opened up an office in Grand Rapids.

Thrun Law Firm, which was founded in 1946, is a public sector law firm, specializing in education and municipal law.

In addition to its East Lansing office, which is home to 27 attorneys, the firm also has an office in Novi, with two full-time attorneys.

West Michigan market

Thrun opened the Grand Rapids office, at 3260 Eagle Park Dr. NE, as part of its strategic growth plan.

The new office will allow attorneys to better serve clients in West Michigan, as well as attract more municipalities and school districts in the region, according to Christopher Harty, the firm’s marketing and operations manager.

He noted that it’s helpful to both clients and Thrun's statewide attorneys to have an office in Grand Rapids for conducting business.

The firm also plans to conduct presentations and seminars in West Michigan, as it does in other markets.

Attorneys

Thrun Law Firm’s Grand Rapids office will be anchored by two full-time attorneys.

Meg Hackett has been with Thrun since 2007 and has more than 30 years of experience as an attorney.

She is a Rockford resident and has worked out of the East Lansing office, focusing on legal issues pertaining to schools.

Recent hire Daniel Martin came to Thrun earlier this year with more than 15 years of municipal experience.

He resides in Grand Haven.

Thrun's newer attorneys will also rotate through the Grand Rapids office to gain experience.

The firm plans to announce an open house for its new office soon.
