Sports bar claims title of most beers on tap in Michigan

A restaurant and sports bar has assumed the title of most beers on tap in Michigan — after increasing its number of taps by 533 percent.
Tap king
The Score in Grand Rapids is attempting to capitalize on the craft beer movement by boosting its beer-tap total from 24 to 128.
Just a few weeks following the Short’s tap takeover at HopCat East Lansing, The Score will officially claim the most-taps crown when it unleashes 128 taps today.
HopCat East Lansing will maintain the tap-takeover world record.
What’s on tap
The Score will keep eight domestic beers on tap, but the rest will be dedicated to mostly Michigan-based craft beer.
The Score will carry about 40 beers from Michigan’s top four breweries: Founders Brewing Co., Short’s, Bell’s Brewery and New Holland Brewing Co.
The bar will also sell growlers to go.
Tap-fest proceeds
The Score will celebrate its expansion at Tap-fest tonight, starting at 5 p.m.
Ten percent of all sales and $10 from each growler at the fest go to the West Michigan Mountain Biking Alliance and Friends of the White Pine Trail.
