Did you know Steve Van Andel went to Hillsdale College?

Hillsdale doesn’t plan to forget that fact any time soon.

The private Michigan liberal arts college recently said it has named its Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship after the Amway chairman, who graduated from Hillsdale in 1978.

Hillsdale said Van Andel, who serves on the school’s board, provided a lead gift that established an endowment for graduate scholarships and graduate school operations.

Hillsdale launched the statesmanship graduate school, which offers an M.A. and Ph.D. in politics, last year.

"Steve Van Andel has an outstanding record of principled service in business, in life, and in his work with the college," said Hillsdale President Larry Arnn. "It is an honor and privilege to have his family name attached to our graduate school."

Van Andel said, "As an alumnus of Hillsdale College, it has given me great pleasure and satisfaction to see the graduate school take shape.

“I've always admired the philosophy of this fine institution, and I'm happy to partner with Hillsdale to further the college's long-standing mission of education," Van Andel added.
