Eleven bands are scheduled to play at 11 different downtown Holland pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues for the city’s popular GrooveWalk on Saturday night.

GrooveWalk has been held twice a year each year since 2008, when the first event was such a huge success for Holland’s restaurants and bars.

“We typically see crowds ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 people at the event,” said Kara de Alvare, interim marketing coordinator at Downtown Holland.

GrooveWalk is held in October and April, which are traditionally slower times for area restaurants, and it provides a nice boost to sales.

Patrons can see all 11 bands perform by purchasing a single wristband for $10 in advance or $15 on Saturday night.

They can do the groove walk from one venue to the next or ride one of the GrooveXpress buses free with their wristband.

Due to the event’s growing popularity, this year, wristbands will be limited to 3,000.

“We've decided to limit the number available to ensure that everyone that attends has a positive experience," de Alvare said. "We don't anyone to spend their entire night waiting in line to get into a venue!”

GrooveWalk takes place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
