H&M opens in Grand Rapids
The international “fast-fashion” retailer H&M is opening its Grand Rapids store on Thursday.
West Michigan was abuzz this spring when Colliers International West Michigan said that Sweden-based H&M was planning to open a store in the region.
Now that day has arrived.
The doors of its 19,000-square-foot store at Woodland Mall will open at noon on Halloween.
H&M sells women’s, men’s and children’s “fast-fashion” clothing lines and accessories, including maternity wear, lingerie, sports apparel and plus sizes.
The world’s second-largest clothing retailer operates more than 2,880 stores in some 43 countries.
“H&M is committed to expanding our stores in the best locations throughout the United States,” said Daniel Kulle, continental manager of North American H&M. “We look forward to opening this new location in Grand Rapids and reinforcing our belief in the regional economy of Michigan.”
H&M is offering the first 100 shoppers in line tomorrow an Access to Fashion Pass, valued from $10-$300, and an H&M shirt.
The store is also rolling out a garment-recycling program, where customers can donate unwanted or old pieces by any brand.
Anyone who donates clothes on the opening morning will be entered to win H&M gift cards, ranging from $50-$100 in value.
