A maker of automotive lighting parts is planning a $16.3-million expansion that will create 150 jobs in the area.

Ventra Grand Rapids 5 is implementing a three-year plan to invest in equipment and purchase and renovate a facility in Kentwood, at 2305 Breton Industrial Park Dr. SE, according to The Right Place, a regional economic development nonprofit.

Ventra will expand the launch of an automotive lighting line at the facility, and it plans to secure new orders from automakers in Michigan.

Ventra plans to continue its operations at a nearby facility, at 3075 Breton Rd. SE.

Ventra Grand Rapids 5 is part of the Urbana, Ill.-based Flex|N|Gate group, a global supplier of automotive systems and components.

Incentives

Ventra will receive $650,000 in Michigan Business Development Program incentives for the expansion.

The Right Place said the state incentives “played a key role” in Ventra choosing Michigan “over sites in other states."

The state incentives were announced today by The Right Place — together with the state’s marketing arm, the Michigan Economic Development Corp., and the city of Kentwood.

“Ventra Grand Rapids 5's investment is very encouraging to The Right Place and to the region, as this announcement demonstrates that West Michigan remains a competitive place for manufacturers to do business,” said Megan Sall, business development manager at The Right Place.
