Small business rises to top of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For
A regional small business has stood out among the nation’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For as an elite employer in its class.
Holland-based Elzinga & Volkers Construction Professionals won the Elite Award in the small business category.
The award program is presented by the National Association for Business Resources.
The other two Elite Award winners are Chicago-based FONA International, in the medium business category, and Troy-based United Shore Financial Services, in the large business category.
Companies that are selected to the National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For list were assessed by an independent research firm, which reviewed various factors: compensation, benefits and employee solutions; employee enrichment, engagement and retention; employee education and development; recruitment, selection and orientation; employee achievement and recognition; communication and shared vision; diversity and inclusion; work-life balance; community initiatives and strategic company performance.
The Elite Award winners were then selected based on their high scores in all categories.
"Nationally recognized award recipients keep innovative human resource initiatives at the forefront of their company culture and make it a priority to consider their workforce as an essential aspect in their company success," said Jennifer Kluge, president, National Association for Business Resources. "Our list of nationally recognized companies has grown significantly this year. We are proud to recognize and honor these winning companies."
Several West Michigan companies were selected for the national designation.
The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For are presented annually in five markets: Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Houston and Grand Rapids.
Nominations are being accepted for 2014.
