Architecture firm designs expansion
A local architecture and engineering firm is expanding.
GMB Architecture + Engineering said it plans to open an office in downtown Indianapolis’ Mass Ave district.
The firm also operates locations in Grand Rapids and Holland, according to the company’s website.
Expanding GMB's network in Indiana offers a platform to spread throughout the country, said GMB Vice President Rob Den Besten.
“Our strategic locations in West Michigan and now in Indiana allow us to work seamlessly as one firm, while continuing to plant the seeds for our national growth,” Den Besten said. “A stronger presence in Indiana also provides us with an opportunity to tap into the state’s world-class engineering and architectural talent."
Grand Rapids director
GMB has also hired Michael Lubbers, former creative director at Wight & Company in Chicago, as the director for its Grand Rapids location.
Lubbers, a Michigan native, said his vision for the location is to foster collaboration between staff and clients, as well as grow the employee number to about 10-15 over the course of the next three to five years.
“Our Grand Rapids Lab provides us with an opportunity for discovery that encourages our design teams and our clients to interact in an open space without any rigid processes,” Lubbers said.
