Ohio plastics maker moves in with jobs
This is one of those days when the competition between Michigan and Ohio is put aside for an all-business handshake.
Ohio-based Lauren Plastics, a plastics manufacturer that specializes in extruded and molded sealing solutions, has purchased ISO-Trude in Spring Lake Township, according to an announcement by the Grand Haven area chamber of commerce.
ISO-Trude, founded in 1993, has operated as a custom extruder of tight tolerance plastic parts for various industries, including automotive, at 17155 Van Wagoner St., according to LinkedIn.
Lauren Plastics will consolidate operations from Ohio with the lakeshore operations to "continue providing customers with single and multi-material profile and tubing extrusions," the chamber said.
Laruen Plastics, a division of Lauren International, plans to invest up to $7 million at the lakeshore and create 71 jobs.
“In addition to the economic growth for Michigan, the combination of the two businesses at the Spring Lake facility will provide opportunities for the Lauren International family of businesses to better serve our customers’ needs,” said David Gingrich, CFO at Lauren International.
As part of the move, Lauren Plastics was awarded a $300,000 state grant.
Spring Lake Township is also supporting the deal with a $154,000 tax abatement, and Michigan Works! Ottawa County is providing $70,000 in on-the-job training funds and other assistance.
“We have worked closely with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and local government agencies and the chamber of commerce throughout our evaluation period and are pleased to accept the incentives they have offered in connection with our investment of capital assets and jobs creation, which we will bring to the area,” Gingrich said.
