Local filmmakers, the clock is ticking to submit your movies to the 5th annual Grand Rapids Film Festival.

The regular submission deadline has passed, but late films can still be submitted to the city’s largest film festival until Jan. 15.

The Grand Rapids Film Festival, founded in 2009, is set to run from April 9-13 at to-be-named venues downtown.

The festival will feature eight categories of films: feature, documentary, animation, student short, student documentary, student music video, short narrative and documentary short.

The festival screened 63 films last year, and several — such as “America’s Haunted,” “Town Red” and “The Pink Room” — went on to win film awards at other major film festivals: Las Vegas Film Festival, Seattle True Independent Film Festival, Gen Con Indy Film Festival, Vegas Indie Film Festival, Women's Independent, Ion International and L.A. International Underground.

“Town Red,” a short about farmers and zombies, was also accepted into the prestigious Cannes film festival and will be airing on SHORTS TV.
