The big winner of Start Garden’s most recent Update Night is a producer of silicone meal accessories for children.

The $15 million seed fund in Grand Rapids first invested in Silikids’ Siliskin Glass, a silicone-covered glass, back in September 2012.

The Start Garden team decided at last month's Update Night to invest $170,000 into Silikids, bringing the sum of its investment in the startup to $255,000.

“The recent children’s companies that are backing Silikids demonstrates that our investment is in line with the trending that is happening in the market,” said Rick DeVos, Start Garden’s founder. “Stacey (Wehrman Feeley) and her co-founder, Giuliana Schwab, have moved Silikids a significant distance in the market in less than a year.

“They have proven that they are the right people to create a strong sales and distribution network and move their idea forward.”

Start Garden’s next Update Night is Jan. 23.
