Van Andel Education Institute names board member
The Van Andel Education Institute has appointed a new board member with a longtime tenure in higher education.
James Bultman will now sit on the Van Andel Education Institute Board of Trustees. The institute is the science education division of the Grand Rapids-based Van Andel Institute.
Bultman served as the 11th president of Hope College from 1999-2013, retiring last summer.
VAEI noted that during Bultman's tenure as president, Hope "experienced an increase in enrollment and multiple facilities enhancements."
He was also president of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa from 1985-1999.
He received a bachelor’s in chemistry from Hope and a master's and doctorate in educational leadership from Western Michigan University.
“Dr. Bultman’s experience and expertise will be valuable to the future of VAEI,” said Steven Triezenberg, director of VAEI. “We look forward to his contributions on the Board of Trustees.”
VAEI said it's dedicated to strengthening science education and motivating and preparing people to pursue science-related professions, by providing hands-on, inquiry-based learning opportunities.
VAEI programs are designed for students at all stages of the education system, from elementary through graduate school, and for teachers and educators through professional development training.
