A plastics manufacturer is packing its bags and moving.

Klein Tools said last week that it is expanding its manufacturing headquarters in Mansfield, Texas and will consolidate two of its manufacturing operations at the Texas site: Klein Plastics in Rockford, which employs 96 people, and Klein Manufacturing in Lincolnshire, Ill.

The move will be made in the second quarter of 2015.

Klein Tools said it will develop individualized plans for each employee affected by the move and will consider the employee’s interests.

The Rockford plant makes injection-molded products, while the Illinois location produces screwdrivers and nut drivers. The Texas facility makes pliers and wire strippers.

“By centralizing facilities at our manufacturing headquarters, Klein can develop business strategies that will produce operational and system efficiencies,” said Russell Winnie, executive director of loss prevention at Klein Tools. “This move supports our commitment to remain a U.S.-based employer and manufacturer known for high quality, American-made products.”

The company will maintain its headquarters in Lincolnshire, as well as other offices and plants in Arkansas, Iowa, New York and Illinois.

Klein Tools, founded in 1857, is a family owned and operated company.

“For over 157 years, Klein has been committed to manufacturing the majority of our products in the U.S.A.,” Klein Tools President Thomas R. Klein said. “By creating a world-class manufacturing campus in Mansfield, Texas, Klein can continue its tradition of utilizing high-quality materials, superior craftsmanship and advanced technology to produce premium tools.”
