Few people understand Ferris State University’s College of Engineering Technology the way its new dean does.

Larry Schult, formerly associate dean of operations for FSU’s College of Engineering Technology, has been with FSU since 1994.

He began his career with FSU as a professor of engineering and plastics, eventually becoming director of two schools within the College of Engineering Technology — as well as program coordinator and department chair.

His many years of experience within the various levels of leadership at the college helped Schult earn the dean role last month.

Schult also spent 16 years working in Michigan’s plastics industry at Northwood Industries, Grand Traverse Plastics and AMP Industries.

“I’d like to thank Larry for his willingness and enthusiasm to serve the College of Engineering Technology as dean,” said Fritz Erickson, FSU provost and vice president for academic affairs. “He will be an excellent advocate for the college and our students.”

Schult received a B.S. in industrial education from Eastern Michigan University and an M.A. in occupational education from the University of Michigan.
