A furniture retailer with stores across the region just gave “Furniture City” its latest boost.

Warren-based Art Van Furniture, the Midwest’s largest furniture retailer, ranks no. 3 in the recent “Power 50 Ranking” of retailers by Home Furnishings Business magazine.

Salt Lake City-based RC Wiley Home Furnishings — with stores in Utah, California, Nevada and Idaho — ranks no. 1, and Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, Neb. — with stores in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Texas — ranks No. 2.

Home Furnishings Business magazine based its ranking on the retailers’ market share, retail sales volume, social media impact and industry votes.

Art Van growth

This past year, Art Van expanded into Indiana, Ohio and the Chicago area and converted 31 of its Mattress World stores in Michigan and Indiana into Art Van PureSleep stores.

The retailer also pushed its social media presence and said it has more than 76,000 Facebook fans and 8,500 Twitter followers.

"It's truly an honor to be included among the best of the best in the furniture industry nationwide," said Art Van CEO Kim Yost. “It's humbling to be able to enhance people's homes, as well as to be recognized for our efforts by our industry peers.”
