Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park will welcome a special exhibit later this month that offers a different look at the sculptor’s art.

The exhibit “Committed to Paper: Master Drawings and Prints by Sculptors” will be at Meijer Gardens from Jan. 31-April 27.

There will be more than 40 pieces from artists such as Magdalena Abakanowicz, Anthony Caro, Louise Nevelson, George Segal, Roxy Paine and Anthony Gormley.

There will be three categories of drawings and prints that will appeal to all audiences: one is preparatory works, another is meditations on completed works and the final is compositions of life studies.

“Meijer Gardens is deeply honored to premiere this incredibly rich collection of drawings and prints by sculptors,” said Joseph Becherer, Meijer Gardens’ chief curator and vice president of exhibitions and collections. “This incredible visual treasury is full of rich imagery by many of the most important sculptors from the 20th and 21st centuries."

There will be several programs during the exhibit, including a walk-through with Becherer on Feb. 7 and drawing workshops on March 16 and 29, among others.
