Four former partners at an insurance agency that was recently acquired by a global brokerage have started a new agency together.

Earlier this month, Grand Rapids-Pinnacle Insurance Partners joined Hub International Limited’s Hub Midwest east division.

Four of the eight Pinnacle Insurance Partners joined Hub Midwest.

Coldbrook

The other four — Bill VanderPoorte, Pam Osborn, Rich Nutter and Jim Watson — decided to start a new Grand Rapids firm, Coldbrook Insurance Group.

The new firm is housed at 45 Coldbrook St. NW, which was previously one of two Pinnacle Insurance Partners offices in Grand Rapids.

Nutter said Coldbrook is excited to move forward as an independent, locally owned agency.

“We are really excited about our continued venture here in West Michigan,” Nutter said.  “We are committed to this industry, to this community and to our employees. Our employees are very happy to continue what we started years ago.”

Coldbrook employs about 35 employees.

Specialty

The insurance agency offers property and casualty, employee benefits and personal line products and services.

It has several specialties: commercial real estate, condominium associations, apartment communities, automotive dealers, doctors and physician programs, construction, merger and acquisition risk analysis, tool and die and manufacturing.

Though headquartered in Grand Rapids, Nutter said that the firm does business across the country.

Nutter also noted that John Perras, also a former Pinnacle Insurance partner, has remained at Coldbrook, where he continues to operate Pinnacle Wealth Advisors.
