The West Michigan beer industry appears all over RateBeer.com’s annual “best of” rankings — which span the world, nation and state.

Founders Brewing Co.

On top of being named the No. 1 brewery taproom in Michigan by RateBeer.com, Grand Rapids-based Founders took home the top beer in the state with its KBS.

Founders had also five beers in the top 100 beers in the world, including Backwoods Bastard, Breakfast Stout, Imperial Stout, KBS and Porter.

Bell’s Brewery

Bell’s Brewery was named the top brewery in the state.

Galesburg-based Bell’s also had four beers in the top 100 beers in the world, including Black Note Stout, Expedition Stout, Hopslam and Two Hearted Ale.

HopCat

HopCat in Grand Rapids repeated as the No. 1 brewpub in the nation and was also named the top brewpub in Michigan.

The honor comes a week following HopCat’s sixth anniversary.

“Earning recognition from a site like RateBeer.com as the best in the nation is a testament to the entire HopCat team’s tireless efforts to serve our customers throughout the year,” HopCat owner Mark Sellers said.
