A credit union is expanding its footprint in the region by opening two offices.

Kalamazoo-based Consumers Credit Union will renovate its South Haven office and start construction on two offices this spring: in Caledonia at 1673 68th St. SE. and in Cascade Township at 5597 28th St. SE.

The new offices are slated to open this fall.

New offices

They will each be approximately 3,200 square feet, with the latest in banking technology, including touchscreen access to financial education.

Each office will also have a full service lobby, with a free coffee bar, children’s play area and free wireless Internet access.

Staff will be hired for the offices, although the approximate number was not specified.

“These new offices will allow us to provide more focused service to our Grand Rapids members and continue our strong trajectory of controlled growth,” said Kit Snyder, Consumers Credit Union president/CEO.

Consumers’ Caledonia office will be close to the intersection of 68th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue, where there is a Macatawa Bank branch and an Option One Credit Union location.

South Haven

The credit union’s South Haven office will undergo renovations this spring that will include a similar technology upgrade, including an updated online and mobile banking center and service area for one-on-one assistance.

“We’re thrilled to update our South Haven office, which has been a mainstay for us since 2000,” Snyder said.

Consumers

Consumers Credit Union, which began operations in 1951, has more than 55,000 members in West Michigan, with 14 offices, more than 200 ATMs and over $500 million in total assets.
