Founders Brewing Co. is dedicating a week to release the recently anointed Best Beer in America.

RateBeer.com recently named Founders' Kentucky Breakfast Stout, or KBS, the Best Beer in America and Best Stout in the World.

So this year, to celebrate the limited beer's release, Founders is planning a five-day KBS Week in Grand Rapids from March 18-22.

The beer will be released throughout the brewery’s distribution footprint on April 1.

Ticketed release

The week is anchored by a ticketed release of the imperial stout, brewed with coffee and chocolate and aged in bourbon barrels for a year.

Tickets for the release go on sale on March 1 at 11 a.m. All proceeds from the tickets will go toward Grand Rapids Whitewater.

BeerCity release

Grand Rapids-based Founders will send kegs of KBS throughout the city to 15 bars and restaurants all week.

The week culminates with a Founders taproom release on March 22.

“We’re excited to turn the release of KBS into something that extends beyond the walls of Founders,” said Founders Co-Founder and Vice President of Brand Dave Engbers. “KBS Week allows beer enthusiasts to celebrate the release of this beer with some of the retailers that make the West Michigan beer community so special.”

Ten area hotels have teamed up with Founders to offer special packages for the week, including items such as glasses and gear.

Bottles of KBS will be released in Grand Rapids on March 25.
