Watermark Grille to be redesigned, renamed

RedWater Restaurant Group is redesigning its Watermark Grille in Cascade, including a new restaurant concept and doubling the size of the banquet space. Work is slated for completion by late spring. Plans include a 100-seat open-design restaurant and lounge, central stone fireplace and indoor/outdoor seating, a 48-seat wine room and an expanded outdoor covered patio with fire pits. A new name for the restaurant is part of the new development.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan honored firms for excellence during its awards ceremony at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids. West Michigan firms honored included Fleis & VandenBrink Engineering, which received both engineering and surveying Eminent Conceptor awards. Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber and HH Engineering LTD both received Engineering Honorable Conceptor awards.

CONSTRUCTION

Dan Vos Construction Group has completed a new 5,231-square-foot veterinary hospital for Drs. Tanya Fraser, Kim Ernst, Emma O’Brien and staff. The animal hospital is located at 6161 Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale. The hospital outgrew its previous location at 6857 Lake Michigan Drive.

Van Wyk Risk & Financial Management announced the promotions of David J. Hop to president; and Alison L. Van Wyk and Eric B. Van Wyk to executive vice president. The three comprise the ownership team. Additionally, Jeffrey J. Bucek was promoted to COO.

Jeanne Bolhuis has been promoted to administrator at Bronson Healthcare Midwest.

Mercy Health Saint Mary’s has earned Advanced Certification in Heart Failure from The Joint Commission, becoming the first hospital in the area and the second in the state to do so. The certification is granted to hospitals providing safe, high quality of care, treatment and services to patients with heart failure.

Richard Leach, an expert in genomic medicine, has been named to the board of directors of Grand Rapids’ Empirical Bioscience, formerly known as Syzygy Biotech.

Spectrum Health’s Brain & Spine Tumor Center is offering Tumor Treating Fields therapy, a fourth treatment option for patients with glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and aggressive recurring malignant primary brain tumor in humans.

The Kent County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Mandy Bolter, of Cascade, to the vacant District Five seat. Bolter replaces former Commissioner Sandi Frost Steensma.

Gov. Rick Synder announced the appointments of Luis Avila, of Grand Rapids, and Kara Morley-Smolek, of Ada, to the Michigan Board of Medicine.
