Forbes says the Grand Rapids market is one of the most affordable in the nation.

The Grand Rapids market ranks seventh in the ranking “America’s Most Affordable Cities 2014” by Forbes, which was posted yesterday at Yahoo! Homes.

The 20-city ranking is dominated by Midwest cities, but also includes six cities from the South and three from the Northeast.

To compile the ranking, Forbes started with the 100 largest metropolitan markets with populations of 600,000 or more.

Forbes says it then examined both housing affordability and cost of living in its analysis.

“America’s Most-Affordable Cities”

1.   Buffalo, N.Y.
2.   Memphis, Tenn.
3.   Cincinnati
4.   Dayton, Ohio
5.   Knoxville, Tenn.
6.   Akron, Ohio
7.   Grand Rapids
8.   Louisville, Ky.
9.   Oklahoma City
10. Warren
