A group of neurologists with decades of experience has joined a health care system in the region.

Neurology of Battle Creek

Kalamazoo-based Borgess Health, a health care system serving 10 counties, said last month that it has added three neurologists to its specialized team at Borgess Neurology: Dr. B. Douglas Campbell, Dr. Jeffrey Jones and Dr. Daniel Hood.

Campbell, Jones and Hood have served the Battle Creek community for more than 33 years through their private practice, Neurology of Battle Creek, at 70 W. Michigan Ave.

Borgess Health said the neurologists have provided nearly 80 years of service to the area and developed neurology services in hospitals serving Battle Creek and Marshall.

The three neurologists will continue to see patients at their office in Battle Creek, but are now members of the Borgess Neurology team, which is part of the Borgess Brain and Spine Institute.

Borgess Health system

Borgess Health has 144 owned or affiliated sites of care within the 10 counties it serves. As a member of Ascension Health, a Catholic health system, Borgess is committed to providing holistic and spiritually centered care, according to its website.

The health care system offers a range of outpatient and inpatient neurological services, including the only neuro-intensive care unit in southwest Michigan.

Borgess Brain and Spine Institute has developed treatments for more than 40 years for neurological disorders: such as epilepsy, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, stroke and spinal disease.

Neurology credentials

All three physicians at Neurology of Battle Creek are members of the American Society of Neuroimaging and American Academy of Neurology and board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

As a group, the neurologists bring additional certifications or memberships from medical boards to the Borgess Neurology team: such as the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Board of Electroencephalography and Michigan State Medical Society.

Dr. Campbell received his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurology through the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Jones received his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurology through the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Hood received his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. and completed his residency in neurology through the Wilford Hall Medical Center AFB in Texas.
