Downtown Grand Rapids will receive a splash of fresh art this Friday.

The free Art.Downtown event will return this year from 6-11 p.m. on South Division Avenue.

The event is produced by Avenue for the Arts, which is supported by Dwelling Place, a nonprofit focused on the redevelopment of Grand Rapids’ urban core.

Hundreds of pieces

More than 450 artists will take part in the event at 38 locations.

Three trolleys will take people down the avenue, checking out the galleries, studios and shops downtown.

While art hopping, people can interact with exhibits and speak to local artists displaying their work.

Shows will be at various venues: SiTE:Lab, Vertigo Music, Have Company, Grand Rapids Community College, Harris Building and many others.

Live music

There will also be live music and art at several points downtown: 40 S. Division Ave.; 235 S. Division Ave.; 111 S. Division Ave.; 235 S. Division Ave.; DeVos Place; and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Map

A map of the event is online and will be available on Friday, along with volunteers who will help people navigate the area.

Propaganda Donuts will also feature a special Avenue Doughnut for the event.
