Realtor of the Year assumes reign
In the eyes of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors, 2014 belongs to its Realtor of the Year.
Johh Meyer, owner of John A. Meyer Appraisal Co. in Grand Rapids, was named the 2014 Realtor of the Year this winter by GRAR, an association for the advancement of West Michigan’s real estate community.
The award is the association’s “highest honor.”
Meyer, who’s been a member of the association for 40 years, will also be nominated this fall as a candidate for the statewide Realtor of the Year award from the Michigan Association of Realtors.
“When it comes to his service to GRAR, it was noted that a year hasn’t gone by wherein he wasn’t involved and volunteering his time, energy and talents at some level of the association,” according to GRAR.
GRAR noted that Meyer has served as a member or chairperson of nearly every GRAR committee, including the Professional Standards Committee, and has been elected twice to serve on the GRAR Board of Directors.
He was also recently selected to serve as a member of the 2014 Real Property Valuation Committee at the National Association of Realtors.
In the community
Meyer is also active in the community and has served on a number of boards: Cascade Township Board of Review, West Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association, Great Lakes Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, Midwest Appraisal Management Company, Michigan Council of Real Estate Appraisers, Cascade-Thornapple River Association and the Michigan State Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
