Fireworks retailer sets off more stores
A fireworks retailer is opening three more stores in the region well ahead of summer.
Pittsburg, Kan.-based Jake’s Fireworks said last week that it plans to open stores in Standale, at 4190 Lake Michigan Drive, Holland, at 839 Washington Ave., and Portage, at 7060 S. Westnedge Ave., as well as Saginaw and Utica on the east side of the state.
The retailer already operates two stores in the state, in Kentwood and Muskegon.
“Michigan has always been an important state for our family’s business,” said Jason Marietta, vice president, Jake’s Fireworks.
Marietta added that the company plans to launch new products this year.
Jake’s Fireworks also posted the seasonal opening dates for its stores in the region: Kentwood, April 24; Muskegon, May 1; Holland and Portage, May 22; Standale, June 6.
Jake’s Fireworks, founded in 1974, says its Excalibur product is the top-selling “artillery shell firework of all time.”
