A local brewery released a specialty beer yesterday to help bring awareness to a May 6 vote on street and sidewalk funding.

Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids named Pothole Stout, a Belgian-style stout, after the potholes throughout the city. The beer is 6.3 percent alcohol by volume and has fruit and chocolate notes.

The upcoming ballot asks residents to extend a city income increase tax for 15 years for street and sidewalk funding.

Pothole Stout has been on tap for a few weeks, but is now in cans at Brewery Vivant.

This week, $1 from every pint sold will go to the street-funding campaign.
