An architecture firm is establishing a presence Up North to help it design more waterfront projects.

Bay Harbor

Visbeen Architects said this month that it has opened an office in Bay Harbor, at 4000 Main St.

Visbeen Architects is a custom residential and commercial architecture firm with offices in Grand Rapids and Chicago.

The firm selected Bay Harbor because of the architectural style of the community, said Angela Mulder, director of sales and marketing, Visbeen Architects.

“We design a tremendous amount of waterfront architecture,” Mulder said. “The community suited us well, and many of our clients have second homes up there.”

The space is in the real estate office for the Bay Harbor development and will allow the firm's employees to work in the community to serve clients and acquire new business.

“We are looking for new clients, primary residences . . . in the Bay Harbor development and in the surrounding towns,” Mulder said.

Visbeen Architects uses a live-sketching process to help clients visualize their ideas.

The firm, founded in 1992, has designed more than 1,000 projects in about 35 states and internationally.
