A national retailer of clothes and home décor products is planning to hire about 100 employees before it opens its first store in the area.

Omaha, Neb.-based Gordmans received approval from the city of Wyoming last year to develop a store just south of the RiverTown Crossings mall at the Wilsontown Shopping Center.

The retailer announced last week that it will open its 50,000-square-foot store in Wyoming on July 17, at 4910 Wilson Ave. SW.

The chain opened its first Michigan store in Muskegon on March 20.

Gordmans, founded in 1915, offers “low” prices every day and doesn’t rely on sales or promotions.

The Wyoming store will host its grand opening celebration from July 25-27.

The store is also looking to hire about 100 employees. Anyone interested in a position can apply online or at Michigan Works! in Grand Rapids, at 121 Franklin St. SE.

Gordmans operates 95 stores across 20 states and has increased its store base by almost 40 percent since 2010.
