Grand Rapids has seen a lot over the last 50 years — and Grand Rapids Magazine has been there for all of it.

The Business Journal’s sister publication is hosting a ‘60s-themed party tonight at the UICA in downtown Grand Rapids, from 6-11 p.m., to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“We're extremely proud of the history of Grand Rapids Magazine — what it means to the community and what its role may be in the future," said Scott Miller, circulation manager, Gemini Publications.“The magazine has a lot in common with Grand Rapids. We work together to create some really amazing stuff and experiences. And while it's a celebration of the things that have transpired in Grand Rapids over the last half century, it's just as much about where we are going next.”

Live music

There will be music provided by Chance Jones, A.B., The Veloras and the Audacious Hoopers. Dancing is encouraged.

Food and drink

Of course, what would be a Grand Rapids party without craft beer? Founders Brewing Co. has provided the party with its brews.

Other cocktails and ‘60s-themed local food will be supplied by Applause Catering.

Tickets

Tickets to the event are $50 and can be purchased online, with a portion of proceeds going to the GR Creative Youth Center.
