A local die casting company is planning to invest $5.3 million to expand two plants in the area and create 50 jobs.

Cascade Die Casting Group in Grand Rapids will invest in construction at its Sparta facility, at 9983 Sparta Ave., and Gaines Township facility, at 7750 South Division Ave., and create the jobs over three years, according to The Right Place, an economic development nonprofit, on Wednesday.

Cascade Die Casting also plans to acquire new equipment, including die casting machines, trim presses, ancillary and secondary process equipment.

Cascade Die Casting Group, founded in 1978, is still under the guidance of its original ownership.

The company offers aluminum and zinc alloy die casting and supports a variety of industries, including automotive, consumer goods and electronics.

The company also has two facilities in North Carolina.

Cascade Die Casting employs about 400 workers, including 171 employees in Michigan.

Incentives

Cascade Die Casting has received a $275,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund for the expansion project.

The village of Sparta and Gaines Township are also expected to provide local support in the form of property tax abatements.
