A lakeshore distillery is making some waves in the vodka industry.

The Fifty Best recently hosted a domestic vodka tasting and awarded a gold medal to Holland-based Coppercraft Distillery for its vodka.

More than 45 vodkas were included in the tasting by the online guide to fine living.

The tasting was judged by wine and spirit journalists, spirit professionals, retailers, restaurateurs and connoisseurs.

The vodkas were rated on a 1-5 point system, with five being the best. Double gold, gold and silver medals were awarded.

“Perfecting the flavor of the vodka was the most time-consuming process of any of our spirits to ensure a smooth, clean-tasting vodka that can stand on its own,” said Walter Catton, owner and co-founder, Coppercraft Distillery. “This evaluation re-affirms our belief that this is a world-class product.”

Coppercraft Distillery makes and distributes gin, rum, vodka and citrus vodka, which are available in West Michigan and at its 9,000-square-foot distillery and tasting room.
